Halloween Songs that Are Way Better Than the Monster Mash (Highlights from my Halloween Playlist)

Monster Rap – Bobby “Boris” Pickett

From the original writer and performer of the Monster Mash, Bobby “Boris” Pickett. Hoping to appeal to a new generation, Pickett released this in 1985 as a follow up to his 1962 classic. It’s about the monster from the previous song being unable to speak until the doctor teaches him to rap!

Night of the Vampire – The Moontrekkers

Since I started library school I’ve been on the look out for instrumental music to study to, and have really gotten into 60s surf rock as a result. This song is just the right mood for a Halloween party.

Cha Cha With The Zombies – The Upperclassman

Someone needs to animate Tina Belcher singing and dancing with Zombies to this song. Right now. Right. Fucking. Now.

Dracula – Desmond Dekker

Desmond Dekker is good for all occasions.

Obituary – Agent Ribbons

Agent Ribbons is a really talented, fun duo. This song has a nice Halloween-y theme, but I seriously recommend everything they have ever done.

Goo Goo Muck – Ronnie Cook & The Gaylads

The Cramps version of this song is even better than this one, to be honest.

Tombstone No. 9 – Murray Shafe & the Aristocrats

Monster Love – Lenny & Denny & The Ghouls
